The client is a large medical and academic research campus based in downtown Chicago. With satellite facilities throughout the region, the client educates and trains the next generation of doctors and nurses.
The Challenge
Lack of Competive Market Rates
Due to a lack of competitive rates, the client experienced a decline in nursing staff throughout their facilities. Candidates were routinely assigned to other medical centers throughout the region, leading to gaps and diminished outcomes for patient care at the client facilities. In addition, difficulties in recruitment made for scheduling issues with current staff on billing, increasing rates of reported burnout. It became clear that the client would need the assistance of a staffing partner to help secure vital travel nurses for their facilities.
The Solution
A Regional Recruitng Pipleine
Through a longstanding partnership with an MSP, Planet Healthcare provided critical information regarding market rates to the client. After a round of executive and leadership discussions, the client approved a substantial increase in their compensation packages for travel nurses, the first step in securing vital talent.
Following the client’s increase in rates, Planet Healthcare recruiters quickly identified and staffed medical professionals in several key positions. These positions included roles such as Telemetry, ICU, and Med/Surge nurses. Moreover, due to an already robust recruiting pipeline in the region, Planet Healthcare was able to expedite key onboarding procedures, shortening overall time-to-hire for the client.
The Results
An Ongoing and Growing Partnership
At the height of this engagement, Planet Healthcare had 32 RNs on billing, providing essential medical care for the client’s patient population. Previous scheduling issues were quickly resolved by the additional staff, and numerous recruited resources have accepted contract extensions. Currently, Planet Healthcare is providing staffing support on an ongoing basis.
